BAGGAGE ALLOWANCES

Generally, passengers are allowed one carry-on bag and one small personal item, such as a purse or backpack. Remember, your carry-on bag must fit under your seat or in the overhead compartment on the airplane (federal regulation). As you may already be aware, the government has issued new security regulations at all airports. Some of these rules vary according to airport and carrier. Please note that curbside check-in has been eliminated at some airports. Depending upon current conditions, this can change on a daily basis. Carry-on baggage limits also vary. Please verify directly with your specific airline to confirm potential additional charges related to checked baggage, excess baggage weight, and sizes that are allowed.

FLIGHT SECURITY AT THE AIRPORT

  • Travelers may carry through security checkpoints travel-size toiletries (3.2 ounces/100mL or less) that fit comfortably in ONE, QUART-SIZE/ LITRE-SIZE, clear plastic, zip-top bag.
  • At the checkpoint, travelers will be asked to remove the zip-top bag of liquids and place it in a bin or on the conveyor belt. X-raying separately will allow security officers to more easily examine the declared items.
  • After clearing security, travelers can bring beverages and other items purchased in the secure boarding area on-board aircraft.
  • Loose lithium batteries are not permitted in checked baggage.

TRAVEL PLANNING INFORMATION

Check the Status of Your Flight

Remember to confirm your flight status before heading to the airport. Please contact your airline for notification of changes on your gate information, arrival and departure times or baggage claim locations. Notifications can be received via your choice of phone, text or email.

Allow Plenty of Extra Time at the Airport

Due to heightened security measures, you’ll need to allow more time for check-in, security screening, and boarding. Please plan to arrive at the airport at least two hours prior to scheduled departure for domestic flights and three hours prior to scheduled departure for international flights.

Flight Changes

All tickets which require changes to the originating flight must be made before the flight departs. If you need to make a change or cancel a reservation after the flight has departed, the airline will require you to purchase another ticket or incur significant change penalties. This will be at your own expense.

COVID-19 TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Per company policy, all attendees must have a negative polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test taken no more than 72 hours prior to departure. This is a Pfizer requirement. You do not have to submit your results. It is also recommended that attendees take an at-home antigen test prior to departing for the airport.

A Pfizer-provided antigen test will be taken by all attendees upon arrival at the resort.

BRING PROPER IDENTIFICATION

To ensure your safety and that of other passengers, airlines require that all passengers present the following documentation prior to boarding:

  • Proof of travel for the same day – printed confirmation of an e-ticket (including ticket number); or an airline- or agency-generated itinerary confirming an e-ticket (including ticket number).
  • A current passport that is valid for more than the length of stay (3-6 months beyond your departure date is recommended).
  • Visa for some non-U.S. or Canadian residents. More information can be found here.

PASSPORT INFORMATION

Due to tightened security measures, please read the updated passport guidelines carefully to ensure that you have all the proper documents before going the airport. Winners and their official guests will be leaving the boundaries of the United States and, therefore, will need to show proof of residency/citizenship. All persons regardless of age will need a passport.

Please ensure your passport is valid for more than the length of stay (3-6 months beyond your departure date is recommended). This is a requirement that will be enforced. Please also note that the name on your passport must match the name on your airline ticket. For example, if your passport is in the name of “James John Doe,” your airline ticket must say “James John Doe.”

U.S. Citizens: If you do not have a current passport, it can take up to 8-11 weeks to process, so do not delay in securing (or renewing) a passport. If you have never applied for a passport, please note, a certified birth certificate with a raised seal from the county in which you were born is the document required, and the full name listed on your birth certificate will be used on your passport unless you also provide proper legal documentation of a name change. Most county courthouses are familiar with this process and will provide you with the proper documentation; however, it does take time. Hospital birth certificates are unacceptable. Improper documentation will be returned and will only serve to slow the process.

Obtaining a passport is relatively easy, although the process can be lengthy. Either stop by your local post office for the appropriate forms or go online at http://travel.state.gov. The application process and fees are explained, and the forms are available on the site as well. If necessary, an additional fee can be paid to expedite the processing of your passport. Boarding will be denied if your documentation does not meet requirements. Passport fees (where applicable) are not covered by the program.

Non-U.S. Citizens: please check your country’s passport website page for more information on obtaining one. Please reference the Bahamas.com Immigration & Customs Requirement page for details on entry requirements (passport, visas, etc.).
